At 19:40 hours, Station 25 was dispatched to 17 Church Road in Ardmore for house fire. Chief Tom Hayden (25-5) reported on scene with smoke showing and possible entrapment. As Chief Hayden walked to the rear of the residence he was met with heavy black smoke and screaming from a second floor balcony. Chief Hayden climbed up onto a car hoping to get access to the trapped homeowner. Shortly thereafter, neighbors brought over a ground ladder, allowing Chief Hayden to rescue and hand over the victim to Lower Merion Police.
Within minutes, 25-1 appeared on scene with heavy smoke and a well involved basement fire. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. Other units dispatched were Station 26 (Narberth), Station 21 (Penn Wynne), Station 28 (Union) as the FAST, Station 24 (Gladwyne) for the Air/Light Unit and Station 313 (Narberth Ambulance). The fire is currently under investigation.
