SMOKING LIGHT FIXTURE
Date: 8/17/07 The Merion Fire Company with the assistance of Bryn Mawr Fire Company responded to a electrical fire at Suky Rosan Store on Friday. Upon arrival it was identified that one of the basement light fixtures was smoking. Both fire companies handled the call and were back in service in fifteen minutes.
WATER DAMAGE AT MILK BOY COFFEE
Date: 8/16/07 Thursday evening Station 25 was dispatched to Milk Boy Coffee Shop in Ardmore for a report of a broken water pipe. Upon arrival it was evident that there was extensive water damage done by the broken pipe from a second floor apartment. Merion Fire Company went into service to assist the business owner with shutting off the water supply, salvage and securing utilities and some basic clean up. To date the store is closed until further notice.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
Date: 7/28/07 Members of the Merion Fire Company had the honor last night of meeting Governor Ed Rendell at the National Night Out 2007 in Ardmore. The event is designed to:
  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
GASOLINE SPILL
Date: 8/7/07 Firefighters dilute any fumes underground after some gasoline was washed into the sewer system by a maintenance man in front of Mapes on Rittenhouse Place today. The store was briefly evacuated.
